Santa Lucia - 35 scuba-diving sites
| Santa Lucia one of the best, and longest beaches in Cuba is located on the northern coast of Camaguey Province,
where the largest number of coralline formations in the western hemisphere is closest to the shore.
The scuba-diving area runs from Maternillos Point to close to Sabinal Cay and contains the remains of many sunken ships, such as the Nuestra Senora de Alta Gracia, the
Mortera and the Pizarro-the last two dating from the 19th century. It takes just a few minutes to reach the nearby coralline belt, which contains ridges up to 33 feet 10 meters high separated by lower sandy areas.
The resort and itís international scuba-diving center are a little under 68 miles 109 kilometers from the provincial capital, the city of Camaguey; 399 miles 643 kilometers from Havana; and 341 miles 550 kilometers from Santiago de Cuba.
Bull Sharks that live at the mouth of the nearby Bay of Nuevitas are a special feature, putting in a spectacular show.
