Trinidad - 21 scuba-diving sites |
![]() |
Nestling in intensely green, rolling countryside between the Escambray Mountains and the sea, Trinidad is an enchanting city whose architectural values led UNESCO to declare it a part of world heritage. Neighboring Ancon Peninsula, whose beaches are among the best on Cuba’s southern coast, has a scuba-diving center with lodgings in comfortable hotels just a few steps from the sea. The most notable features of this area- which extends as far as Cayo Blanco (White), include a narrow insular shelf with a sandy bottom, colonies of coral, sandy ridges up to 16 feet 15 meters high and tunnels. Here, you can find concentrations of Black Coral, a wide variety of sponges, branched and feathery gorgonians, Common Sea Fans and tropical fish. A highway 25 miles 40 kilometers long that hugs the coast links Cienfuegos and Trinidad, which is 211 miles 340 km from Havana. |
